I’ve been away a lot lately so thought I would treat my wife to a nice spa weekend and just happened to pick the very same hotel that the Man City team stay at when playing Newcastle.How lucky was that.

We are tucking into a nice plate of nachos and jallies in the gin bar before we hit the spa and I say to Connie “ I wonder if we are staying in the same room that Kevin stayed in..I’m going to look under the bed and see if he left a credit card behind.Can you imagine that!”

My wife looked at me like I was an idiot,she does that a lot so I picked up my phone,it sprang into life and there it was De Bruyne to leave City. I couldn’t believe it.I still cant.

The greatest footballer I’ve ever seen was leaving.

I never cry but on reading his message on Instagram I was choking up. “These people gave me everything and guess what …..we won EVERYTHING”

Oh Kev. You ruined my weekend and every weekend since.

We returned to the scene a couple of weeks later this time with our Sarah May and while they lay back in a sea of massage and cocktails I nipped about the place with my camera.

ps.I did check and he didn’t leave his credit card behind but maybe King Kev did stay in room 430 on the fourth floor.
